LFW Round-up

LFW Round-up

London Fashion Week whizzed past pretty quickly this year!  Collections were safe and wearable as designers were limited by what they can get away with - buyers will be going with stylish staples for recessionistas and fewer experimental flash-in-the-pan pieces.  Which meant luxurious touches and details were pushed back onto wearable items, which will translate well to the high street.  Hooray.

There were hella killer shoe boots still doing the rounds, pale and interesting toned down make-up, lashings of black and with standout bright flashes - beautiful royal blue especially, at Bora Aksu (above).  Simple silhouettes were boosted with futuristic shoulders at Danielle Scutt (below), bodycon dresses, heavy eyebrows, and huge statement jewellery still prevails - necklaces over coat collars, especially.

Creativity was unleashed in the shape of Christopher Kane, there was gorgeous structured shapes at Marios Schwab, relaxed 'London Cool' at Twenty8Twelve (below), crazy clubwear at Ashish (see previous neon post).

The Universe of Keith Haring film was great, the Dazed and Confused party was rubbish and full of tweenies, Andrew Maktenyi was average, Madonna exhibition was excellent although exactly what you'd expect, PPQ was a blast (although sherry? Sherry?) - especially with the Noisettes screaming at the fashion pack, circus and fairground fun at the Met Pink Party, the Oscars & Select Models party at Mahiki very well-dressed and well-attended, the Christopher Kane & 10 magazine party at Jalouse very glittery and trashy with some serious shape-throwing on the dancefloor.

Vivienne unleashed her grown-up girl gang on her sleb-filled front row (above), Kanye paraded around like a prat, the headpieces and hats were flamboyant, there was a great array of classic models and fresh faces, 7/8 and peg leg are still the trouser of choice...  The Global Cool party at Molton House was stuffed to the brim with sushi and shampoo with a very cool eco crowd, the Levi's party and White Lies gig afterwards great fun, the Azzaro pop up store launch showed off its new pricey wares to an odd nouveau, Eurotrash-y crowd, the Punk Loves Couture Cocktail Party was dull with rubbish goody bags and an increasingly weary set of partygoers...  And then, there was Milan.
